Building Strategy That Actually Works
We've spent fifteen years working with Australian businesses that needed more than theory. They needed frameworks that held up under pressure. Strategy that teams could execute without needing consultants in the room every week.
Our approach comes from seeing what breaks when companies try to grow too fast. And what holds when markets shift unexpectedly.

Why We Started This
Back in 2010, I was working with a manufacturing company in regional Queensland. They'd hired three different consulting firms. Each delivered beautiful slide decks. None delivered results they could sustain.
The problem wasn't the consultants. It was that strategy had become something you bought, not something you built. Companies would implement frameworks without understanding why they worked. When conditions changed, everything fell apart.
So we started teaching the underlying principles. The decision-making frameworks. The diagnostic tools that help you figure out what's actually happening in your business before you try to fix it.
pyranoventis grew from those early workshops. We now work with organisations across Australia, but the focus hasn't changed. We teach people to think strategically, not just follow strategic plans.
How We Got Here
The path wasn't linear. But each phase taught us something that shaped how we teach strategy now.
2010
First Principles Workshop
Started with twelve people in a Mackay boardroom. We spent two days breaking down why their expansion strategy wasn't working. That became our core diagnostic framework.
2013
Regional Business Network
Partnered with six Queensland councils to deliver strategy training for local businesses. Learned that small companies need different frameworks than corporates. Same principles, different application.
2017
Digital Learning Platform
Launched online courses after constant requests from people who couldn't travel to in-person sessions. Spent a year figuring out how to teach strategic thinking through screens. Harder than we expected.
2021
Crisis Response Framework
COVID forced us to rethink everything about how businesses plan. Developed rapid assessment tools for companies facing sudden market disruption. Those tools are now part of our standard curriculum.
2025
Integrated Strategy System
Combining fifteen years of field work into a comprehensive learning system. Launching in September 2025 with cohorts starting in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
What We Actually Teach
Strategy isn't about predicting the future. It's about building organisations that can handle uncertainty. Here's how we approach that.
Market Position Analysis
Most companies guess at competitive positioning. We teach systematic analysis. How to identify actual advantages. How to spot vulnerabilities before they become crises. How to make positioning decisions based on data instead of optimism.
Resource Allocation
Every business has constraints. The question is which constraints matter most. We work through frameworks for deciding where to invest limited resources. When to double down. When to cut losses. When to wait.
Scenario Planning
You can't predict disruption. But you can prepare for it. We teach practical scenario development. Not academic exercises. Real planning that helps teams make faster decisions when markets shift unexpectedly.
Execution Systems
Strategy fails in implementation. We focus heavily on bridging the gap between plans and action. How to translate strategic decisions into operational reality. How to maintain strategic focus when daily urgencies demand attention.
Performance Metrics
Most companies measure the wrong things. We teach diagnostic measurement. Choosing metrics that actually reveal strategic health. Building feedback systems that catch problems early. Knowing when numbers lie.
Adaptive Learning
Markets change. Your strategy should evolve with them. We teach continuous assessment frameworks. How to know when your strategy is working. When it needs adjustment. When it needs complete rethinking.
Real Applications
These are actual situations where our frameworks made measurable differences. Names changed, but circumstances are accurate.
Regional Retail Network
A seven-store retail chain was planning expansion into Brisbane. Their financial projections looked solid. But market position analysis revealed they'd be competing in an oversaturated segment with no clear differentiation.
Instead of expanding, they consolidated. Strengthened regional dominance. Eighteen months later, they acquired a struggling Brisbane competitor at a fraction of their original expansion cost.
Manufacturing Pivot
A manufacturing company faced declining demand in their primary market. Standard advice was diversification. Our scenario planning revealed their real competitive advantage was production flexibility, not product expertise.
They pivoted to contract manufacturing for other brands. Revenue grew by repositioning existing capabilities rather than developing new ones. Lower risk, faster implementation.
Service Business Assessment
A professional services firm wanted to scale. They were stuck at twenty employees. Growth initiatives kept failing. Execution framework analysis showed their bottleneck wasn't capacity. It was decision-making structure.
We helped them rebuild internal systems for autonomous operation. Within two years they reached forty employees without the founders working longer hours. Same market, different structure.
